So at 5:05 this morning I heard my cell phone turn off..weird uh...then I realized that the clock was off...the house was pitch black and I couldn't even see to walk around my bed. The power it must be off, so yes, I call Josh as 5:00 in the morning to find out how to throw the breaker. He says I didn't wake him, but I am sure I did...he tells me if everything is off it is probably an outage. I dig deep with only a cellphone light to call the power company and report my outage...without any luck of getting through after about 30 minutes, I give up and try again later...then I lay awake in bed listening to my 5 year old wheezing...praying he will be fine a little longer, because I don't have any electricity to plug in his nebulizer, Freezing because the heat is turned off and now curled up with my two youngest I keep thinking Maggie is going to fall down the stairs because she can't see, paranoid, I lay awake...Josh calls to check in...still no power...no way of knowing what happened or how long this could go on...starting to get light outside...power comes back on at 6:45 and yes, school is still in session...we better get going, lots to do in little time...long and short of it, 5,545 Powhatan Residents out of Power, main substation problem. I am just glad that ours cut on a hour before everyone else...so why am I telling you all this...learn from me!
BE PREPARED!!! Before we moved we were quite prepared, as a matter of fact,we were used to the power going off...not since we moved here 6 months ago. We had no candles, no flashlights, no heat, sad thought!! For Me!! I then decided to go proactive and make it a point to be better prepared next time. So that whether Josh is away or not I can care for my kids. Build a fire in the fireplace, that would have been the first thing Josh would have done...anyway, Heed the warnings...Prepare now!!

Kim, thanks for the link to your blog. I love the Christmas tree dilemma! My kids only broke one ornament this year. It was a Christmas miracle! E-mail me at triscuitvl@gmail.com so I can send you an invite to my blog.
