The Accident involving 22 stitches, and one quesy Mommy!

Logan has loved every minute of riding his new bike. Josh had Thursday off and Uncle Russell was visiting.Mom was making tacos for dinner and the men had taken the kids on a family bike ride out and down the streets of the neighborhood, till dinner was ready. Have you ever had that feeling in the pit of your stomach that "something is not right" (madeline)? Well, I did, but I ignored it...bad move on my part. Someday I will start listening to that still small voice. So Josh comes in and yells at me that he needs me now, we have to get to the ER immediately. I am panic stricken that someone has been hit by a car.
We live in a great neighborhood, but sometimes people just go a little too fast down this streets. I take dinner of the stove and turn it off, I head to meet Josh not even knowing which direction to go. I finally get to them, he already has Logan in his work vehicle. I tell Russell dinner is on the stove you have the girls. Not even knowing the severity of the wound. As we are trying to piece the story together, this is what we come up with. Logan is going down a slight hill and turns, hits the brakes on the pedals which are not their and is back pedaling, trying to figure out why he can't stop.He tried to duck under a mailbox, but instead the helmet shifts when his head is turned and the mailbox goes right into him as if a wedge, cutting straight to the skull. We know the ER is too far, so we head to the Physicians Treatment Center. I haven't seen it yet, I just see all the blood and him trying to fall asleep. That itself turns my stomach in knots. We arrive and they rush him right in. We were very blessed that the doctor on call was a plastic surgeon and is well known.Luckily, he thinks he can stitch Logan up without shaving his head.
I am very grateful for that since school will be starting in a couple of days and he is already nervous about starting a new school. The doctor has to cauterize the blood vessels to stop them from bleeding, I am ready to faint and thank goodness Josh was able to be with Logan. Logan was so strong!! He had three shots for numbing and that was the only time he cried. He lay their so still and I was quite proud! The doctor finished after 22 stitches and Josh was intrigued at how thick the skin/ fatty tissue was...stitches stayed in for 10 days. I had the wonderful privilege of washing his head every night to avoid infection. Logan's scar looks amazingly well. I am so grateful to my Heavenly Father for another small miracle that has blessed our lives yet again. I love you Logan and I am so Proud of you!!
I can't forget the kind lady whose mailbox is still leaning. She gave us three towels which were completely ruined with blood and thrown away. We returned the following day with a new set and she had been worried sick about him all night, praying for him and hoping he was okay. I love it when we can find good people like this still in the world today.
(warning for the weak stomach pictures ahead)
